Don't even consider booking vacation rentals in Croatia if you are...

Do you always fall into the category of a stereotype lazy tourist, who just lies on the beach, does nothing, needs an all iclusive service and a full-time baby sitting help on holidays?

Read why Croatia and its serene italian-style meditrranean villages are not the best fit for you then.

So don't even consider booking luxury vacation rentals in Croatia if you are...

a)      A “resort-holiday” fan. In Croatia, there are very few resorts with big hotels and outdoor pools. The vacation rentals in Croatia are based on the stunningly preserved nature, small family-run hotels and self-catering apartments and luxury villas. So if you want to feel like pasha, being catered at each step, than Croatia is hardly a good fit for you.

b)      If you like “classical hotel food”. Since luxury apartments and luxury villas in Croatia are self-catered, you don't have big restaurant for 400 people. You either prepare food with your children as a creativity workshop in very well equipped kitchens inside the rentals, or you spoil yourself in wonderful local taverns, which offer not only local, fresh Mediterranean food with lots of fish and vegetables, but also an authentic touch with local life-style.

c)       If you depend on “baby-sitting services”. If you have been given your grandchildren to take them to holidays and you are expecting to have afternoons off, while you grandchildren are taken care of by strangers, than Croatia should not be your first pick. You would have to indulge into fantasy world of your grandchild, build castles of sand with him, laugh without the reason when he bursts into laughter and build a strong bond with that child. Yes, it is not a walk in the park, it does take energy…But it is also very rewarding.

d)      If you don’t like to explore. Since Croatia doesn’t provide huge resorts where you are supposed to spend all your time, it is quite natural to stumble upon lots of stunning sceneries, talk to warmhearted locals who give you a tip what you should visit next or just happened to find a hidden beach with zero people on it on your way to the best cappuccino in town. All those interesting interactions and small little events that happen to you during the day as a result, can be quite exciting and children have a lot to process when going to bed in the evening :), so be careful before opting for Croatia.

e)      If you can’t function normally without the “big-city infrastructure”. Hey, Croatia is most famous for its stunning Mediterranean and beautifully preserved nature (the Croatia’s slogan is: Mediterranean, as it once was…). So it would be crazy to expect ATM’s on every corner, highways on the islands and big supermarkets and shopping malls. Instead, there are some adorable small local shops, bakeries and butcheries. If you want to recharge your spirit and indulge in fascinating nature, you are on the right place. If you need to be able to buy a new charger for your iMac in an instant, than Croatian Islands is not the best place.

f)       If you fancy crowded sandy beaches. You know, Croatia has a lot of coast, and most of it are pebble and rocky beaches. Especially the south of Croatia, which is famous for its stunning islands, with well-preserved nature, has a direct access to the sea all along the coast. That said; don’t expect kilometers long and crowded sandy beaches with lots of plastic sun loungers. Instead, expect a lot of small bays, pebble and rocky beaches, where only a few people are enjoying themselves. Since the whole coast is a beach, it is seldom that you find a crowded place.
